Project description
We are restoring the site for the owners, Beaconsfield Town Council. It has common butterflies, uncommon moths and we hope rare species breeding nearby may return. Part of the site was reseeded in October 2000, with native downland mix from Emorsgate Seeds, in part to control ragwort invasion. Since then the grassland has been cut and grazed by sheep. Colonisation from original downland has been slow but cowslips have dramatically increased. Hedging has been brought in from Buckingham nurseries. A scrape was made in 2003/4 for Horseshoe and Kidney Vetch. The population of Small Blue butterflies has increased since this work.
