Project description

The Guernsey Countryside Management Scheme was set up in 2001 with about 30 participating dairy farmers.

It involved several key strands including:

  • Environmental protection and Farm Nutrient Balances;
  • Wildlife protection and enhancement (Farm Biodiversity Action Plans);
  • Protection and enhancement of the Guernsey breed of dairy cattle;
  • Enhanced animal welfare provisions;
  • Quality Assurance of dairy products;
  • Training and advice.

We wish to produce and use locally produced wildflower seed and plants as the island flora is distinct from mainland species.
